Cases/Treatments

Ulcerative colitis (Colitis ulcerosa, UC)
is a form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Ulcerative colitis is a form of colitis, a disease of the intestine, specifically the large intestine or colon, that includes characteristic ulcers, or open sores, in the colon.

The main symptom of active disease is usually diarrhoea mixed with blood and pus, of gradual onset. Although ulcerative colitis has no known cause, there is a presumed genetic component to susceptibility. The disease may be triggered in a susceptible person by environmental factors. Although dietary modification may reduce the discomfort of a person with the disease, ulcerative colitis is not thought to be caused by dietary factors.

Case
A lady, aged 23 years, came to me for loose motions with pus and blood in stool. Whenever stool was tested, it showed 10-12% pus cells. She was having this problem from the last 6-8 months and she was taking allopathy from the start of her problem. She passed stool 4-5 times in a day with pain in the abdomen. Doctors diagnosed it to be a case of ulcerative colitis.

She said that she was fed up of taking allopathic medicine. She has taken a lot of allopathic medicine which have given only temporary relief. Whenever she stopped taking the medicine; the problem reoccurred.

She further said that she wants quick relief. She wanted such a medicine that would give her instant relief. Further she said that she does a lot of work because whenever there is hotch-potch in her house she can’t stand it. She can’t stand things lying here and there.

Analysis: In this case the first stage was of her being fed up from taking allopathy (disgust), second asking for quick relief (carried, desire to be fast) and third her fastidious nature. Even with problem she cannot sit idle and cannot bear things lying here and there (rest cannot until things are in proper order).
