Cases/Treatments

Anxiety neurosis is a term covering several different forms of abnormal psychological disorders including pathological anxiety, fears, phobias and panic attacks. It describes nervous system disorders as irrational or illogical worry not based on fact.

This is the case of a man aged 45 years. He came for the treatment of restlessness, palpitation and anxiety which he had from the last 20-21 years.

He said, “I am in great trouble Dr. Sahib. I feel that there is some sort of pressure on my head and I am always very restless. About twenty years ago, I went to attend my neighbour’s cremation. From that day I have been experiencing this problem. My heart sinks all the time and I feel a constant pressure on my head. To get rid of this problem I started taking alcohol. Now I want to drink all the time. Even during daytime I drink because by drinking I feel a little relaxed. I want to get rid of this addiction but I can not. I am restless all the time and have palpitation also.”

“I cannot see anyone in pain. I become extremely depressed if I see someone suffering. I have great sympathy for the poor. I have a lot of sympathy for them and I feel like crying whenever I see someone in misery. I become tense on seeing such people which results in a desire to drink. Also, if someone tries to dominate me, I can’t tolerate it. I become violent during anger. I have become addicted due to all these tensions and anxiety. I want to get rid of it. One or the other thought disturbs me and it remains in my mind for the whole day. Then I become depressed. Sometimes I want to commit suicide and once I even tried ending my life. Whenever I am in tension I feel like crying. I want to leave all of this. I want to run away from these tensions.”

“I cannot hear bad news; I become tense after hearing such news. Sometimes I feel as if I am going to become insane. I want to avoid all of this.”
